“ It’s only my third day out here… ”

Yes people, hope you’re all doing good. It’s been a while since my last blog and I wasn’t meant to take this long of a break, but hey ho, we’re here now. Anyway, I have some exciting news for you all *drum roll*…

I got a new job (don’t all celebrate at once)!

I have been at my previous job for over 4 and half years, so a new job was really pending. After those many years of consulting, change needed to happen.

So what is my new role?

Well, I’m now a Cybersecurity Risk Analyst and the main bulk of my work is to review third party risks. It wouldn’t be a TT blog if I didn’t explain what that is, so here goes.

Third party risk management is basically looking at all the risks that come from using contractors, suppliers and service providers. Once the risks have been reviewed, they are then highlighted so that they can be appropriately addressed and then finally reduced to an acceptable level.

For example, let’s say you run a clothing line and you need to choose a courier service to deliver your parcels. You would do an assessment of the different courier services and see which one poses the most and the fewest risks to your business. At the end of the day, you want your customers to receive their parcels with minimal complaints.

Although, on a business level, you would do an assessment to see how they look after your parcels and what processes they have in place to ensure a successful delivery.

Are you picking DPD, or are you picking Evil… I mean Evri? Thats a no brainer to be honest. As a business you know the risks that come with picking a service like Evri. You have to decide if it’s worth having parcels ending up everywhere but the customers house, because now your customer complaints have risen by 200% and you’re in a zoom call with Evri like:

So that’s basically my job. I review the suppliers/service providers that my company uses or is about to use and determine how secure they are and what areas they need to improve in to make themselves more secure.

These blogs really do help my understanding, because I forget what I do for a living sometimes. My manager reads this so we’re either going to have words tomorrow or a jolly up.

Side note, since when did they change the interview process? I’m having to go through like 6 different stages just to get a job. I’m having to meet the talent finder person, the hiring manager, the team lead, Susan from accounting, it’s all too much. I know there has to be a more efficient way to do this.

Anyways, I hope you guys are declining all cookies and using password managers!

And two-factor authentication

Love & Guidance
