“ That’s some good Intel…”

I want to say a big thank you to all my new subscribers. I appreciate the support, honestly. I hope you learn a lot from these blogs and utilise the tips to be safer online. Now, I did say in my last blog that I will explain how an i3/i5 laptop can be better than an i7. So here’s how…

When it comes to comparing laptops, going for the laptop with the best computer chip, huge RAM and high CPU may seem like the best option. However, there are other factors that you’ll need to consider. Usually after you see ‘i5’ or ‘i7’, you’ll see a string of numbers and letters, and these actually mean something. Let’s take a look at the following example:

This is an HP Laptop with an i3 chip, so a good laptop for the average user. We’ll now break down the random string of characters that appear after i3. The first two digits “10” is the generation indicator, so this is a 10th generation processor*. The next three digits “110” is the Stock Keeping Unit** (SKU), and this is a rough indicator of the processor’s overall performance. The higher the number, the better the performance, so Core i3-10350 is faster than Core i3-10110. The last character, “U” is the product line suffix, and this gives us more information about the processor’s features. The “U” stands for ultra-low power which means that this laptop is power-efficient. The way this works is that it has slower clock speeds*** so it won’t overheat (see below table for other suffixes).

Alpha SuffixDescription
HHigh performance graphics
HKHigh performance graphics, unlocked
HQHigh performance graphics, quad core
UUltra-low power
YExtremely low power
* Processor (CPU) is the part of the laptop that responds and processes instructions
** Unique number that retailers give products to keep track of stock levels
*** Clock speed is how quick the CPU can receive and complete tasks

There are instances where an i7 laptop will have the “Y” suffix meaning extremely low power, and an i3 laptop will have the “H” suffix which means a higher performance, making it more powerful than the i7. To tell you the truth this is just for the intel processors, there are other competitors on the market like AMD, so they will have their own naming convention. I know all of this can be baffling, so I’m trying to break it down as much as possible. Also, I know all of you are big spenders but please shine your eye before making a purchase, the general rule is that the higher the number (i3/i5/i7/i9) the better the laptop.

Anyways, in other news, I’ve been working on something and I have an announcement coming soon. So stay tuned…

Love & Guidance

TT
